A strange incident in relation to the rinderpest is reported to have occurred at Stan-don-hall, in Staffordshire, the residence of Mr Thos. Woolfe. That gentleman had lost J^y the rinderpest up to the present time 39 ■Kid of cattle, and. some have recovered, f^uhong the animals seized were a cow and. . her calf ; the calf died, but the cow survived the attack, and in a few days her milk returned. The dairymaid took some of the milk which she had taken from the cow and showed it to Mrs Woolfe, who, attracted by its unusually rich appearance, put her finger into it and tasted it. No sooner had she .done so than she experienced a violent barn^ -^ing sensation in her mouth, which caused W immediately to spit out the remainder, however, did not stop or even allay Sic burning, which extended rapidly and ith increased intensity to the stomach and I over the tody. A serious illness with ■mptoms such as are produced by irritant lisons supervened, and recovery did not ke place for several days, .
