The pbject cf the Company is the ccn r struction of a large water race, capable of supplying water for sluicing purposes at a sufficient altitude to command the whole range of auriferous terraces and gullies in the Arnold and adjacent districts. It has been prove 4 beyond question that these terraces and gullies ; are not only very extensive, but also exceedingly rich, but the want : of water has hitherto prevented their development. In all cases where water has been, available very profitV ; able results have accrued to the owners of the few small races that have been enabled tc pbtain a supply. It has been found, hpwcver, that the local streams are quite insufficient for the requirements of the district, and that the supply must be obtwjed from a distant source.. The present Company was originated for the purpose of endeavoring to discover an abundant siypply of water from such an a ltitadjL,asr-wj3tt^^^ "most elevated terraces in the district, in the conviction that should these jbjonditions be. fulfilled, immense advantages wptild accrue to the mining cpmmunit3 r , and.thas the under; taking would prove exceedingly profitable, The district of Lftko Brunner suggested itself as 'the most likely source pf supply, and acccrdingly W. J. Bull, Esq., Siirveyor, and Mr Job Savage, the Company's; Manager, made a thorough examination pf the Lake and its neighborhopd. They succeeded in finding an unfailing supply cf water in the Hohonu River, which can be brought in at an elevatien sufficient te command the whele pf the gold fields lying between Lake Brunner and the Arnold on the one hand, and the Greenstone on the other.. In the great and profitable resnlts of the Company's undertaking the prompters, have the utmost confidence, and their ppinipn is supported by that pf the miners and stprekeepers in the district, whp have mps^ liberally assisted in carrying put- the-, pre? liminary arrangements, pf the Company. It is proposed to construct the race of such a capacity as to supply f rpm 30 tp 40 sluice heads pf water, the length pf the race being about 20 miles. The construction of the race will be immediately commenced, and it is expected to be completed in about four months, The advantages offered by this. Company may be summed up as follows :: — 1. The unfailing supply of a large quantity •of water to an extensive area of aurif eroug ground,- and the censequent increase ctf mining prosperity. 2. Economical management, and large pro-, fits, the former being estimated to cost not exceeding £30 per week, and the latter to produce fully 100 per cent per annum, on the capital. .;■■■... 3. Valuable Water Right, which being the first right from an unfailing source no question of protection, &c. , can affect it. The promoters bind themselves not to offer any of their own shares till the remainder are disposed pf at npt under par, thus preventing any depreciaticn of the stock by them. The Cenipany reserves tp itself the option of taking up ground and working it for the benefit of the shareholders.
