The profits of the New York newspapers during the past year have been unprecedented. The Herald has yielded about 300,000 dols. ; the Tribune, IGa.OOO dols. ; the Times, over IQO,OOO dols. ; the World, nearly 100,000 dols, ; and the Exjyress, Journal of Commerce, Commercial, and Eneninr^Post from 40,000 dols. to 85,000 dols. each. The eight-hour a-day system of Labor promises to be- universally adopted in America. The Legislature of Ohio has just adopted it by a vote of 70 to 14.
