Intelligence is to hand that a severe storm ha,3 been experienced at St. John's, on the Newfoundland coast. The gale xaged for fully two days, and resulted in thirty-five wrecks and some loss of life. There are now unmistakeable signs of distress in Ireland owing to the failure of the potato crop. Hundreds of the 'poorer classes are already suffering from great destitution, and it is feared that the distress will increase. PAEIS, December 22.
