The Customs duties collected at Christchurch on Monday, December 18th, were as follows: —Spirits, .£129 5s 2d ; tobacco, .£4O 11s ; wine, .£22 7s; sugar, .£l-0 11s 4d ; tea, £sl 5s lOd; goods by weight, .£124 6s 7d ; ad valorem, .£209 12s; other duties, £97 Cs. Total, £731 ss. PKOPEKTY SALES. Me Charles Clark offered by auction at his rooms yesterday the house and grounds (3jf acres) of H. H. Hennah, Esq., situate at Avonside, but failed to quit them at the owner's reserve. The bidding reached £2350, but the vendor was not satisfied with this, and the property passed in. It is in every way such a desirable residence that a sale is confidently expected, as the vendor’s reserve is much below the actual value. The other lots oilered comprised two sections on the Papanui road, which are placed under offer at owner’s reserve. Mr Clark made a sale by private treaty of house and land in Hereford street oast at £1425. To-morrow (Thursday) he will offer by auction one of the most valuable freeholds in the city, viz., 63ft frontage to Lichfield street, opposite the Oddfellows’ Hall, also some choice sections situated at Sumner and on the Perry road.

Me T. Bullock reports having hold a sale of town, suburban, improved farms, and ruv.d land at the Bazaar, Burnett street, on Saturday, December ICth. The attendance was not very numerous, and fewer properties changed hands than at previous sales. Out of the list offered the following were sold,_ viz. : A suburban building site, containing half an acre, situated near the Alfred Mills, fetched J 633. In the estate of Charles Pye, rural sections 28462, 34115, containing 205 acres 2 roods 3S perches, situated in the Kangitata district, brought £1 14s per acre. All town properties were passed in, buyers being under the impression that the reserves were too high. On 2nd December sold lots 150,151 (on the original sale plan of the AUenton estate), facing the Racecourse, and containing 10 acres, the property of the late Mr George Compton, for the sum of .£490, equal to A3l per acre.
