WELLINGTON, December 14. Matanaka hasl been scratched for the Wellington Cup.

HOUSE RACES AT KAIAPOI,

On Wednesday afternoon three races, in which a great deal of interest centred, took place on the beach, and a number of persons went out to witness the same. The first two were over a distance of 1£ miles, and were between Mr P. Dudson's Mosquito and Mr T. Lynskey's Mickey Free, which was won by the former by about five lengths. The second was Mr E. Kelcher's Lady Jane against Mr Lynskey's b m No Name, and was won by the latter with three-quarters of a length to spare. A match between Mr W. Clark, on foot, against Mr Kinley's horse was next run. The man had half-a-mile start an one mile, and the race was won by Clark by several feet.
