LICENSING COMMITTEES

KOWAI. The quarterly meeting was held at the Ambcrley Town Hall yesterday. Present— Messrs Courage (in the chair), Ensor, Broadfoot, Eendall, and Haughton. The police report, which was satisfactory in every case, was presented. Attention was called to the fact that the fire escapes erected at the Softon Hotel were not in accordance with the instructions of the committee, and the police were requested to see into the matter. Applications were made by Mr Watson, on behalf of Mr H. McLean, Crown Hotel, and Mr G. B. Dance, Railway Hotel, for extension till eleven o’clock. Both applications were refused. Extensions were granted to Messrs H. McLean and G. B. Dance for the 16th December, the day of the Amberley race meeting ; and to Mr Dance for the fortnightly meetings of the Druids which are held at the Railway Hotel.
