The Hon. Mr Eolleston and the Undersecretary for Mines visited the Terawhiti goldfield yesterday and inspected several of the claims. Mr Eolleston expressed himself highly pleased at the appearance of the mines and the samples of stone which were taken out. OAMAEU, December 7. The asphalte concrete, patented for use on tramways and railways by Messrs Harper and Dennison, was tested to-day, and withstood a much greater tensile strain and crushing weight than the best samples of cement concrete. It is probably that the new patent will be used in several towns in the colony shortly.
