WEST COAST RAILWAY.

The following are copies of telegrams which have passed between the President and the Hon. Mr Johnston re Railway Commission, not previously published in the newspaper's : To Hon. Walter Johnston. 27th November, 18S2. Members of deputation that waited on Railway Commissioners confirm my view of answer given by those gentlemen. Respectfully submit that on so important a matter as that under discussion Government should lot Commissioners clearly understand their view of powers of Commission and wishes of Government, and not leave the question in any way open to doubt or discussion. Devenish Meares, Esq., President, Chamber of Commerce, Christchurch. 1 shall be much obliged if the deputation from the Chamber of Commerce would come to see me on Monday, the eleventh inst., on the matter of the Railway Commission.
