Sir Henry Parkes has been elected for Tenterfield without opposition. The Hon. James Watson, Colonial Treasurer, has been rejected for Young constituency by two votes.

It has transpired that his Excellency Sir William Jervoishasieeeived a telegram from the Earl of Kimberley, Secretary of State, for the Colonies, desiring him to enter upon his duties as Governor of New Zealand in January next.
