WELLINGTON, November 28. Thompson and Morgan were brought up again to-day, charged with having forty gallons of whiskey in their possession upon which duty had not been paid. A further remand was granted to enable an important witness to be present. Bail was allowed to each prisoner, himself in -£2OO and two sureties of .£IOO each. _ George Taylor, a resident in the Pourua district, was charged with having in his possession certain instruments for illicit distilling. He also was remanded, the same bail being granted. NEW PLYMOUTH, November 28.
Yesterday ex-mayor Capt. Davidson com tested the seat for the Central Ward in the Borough Council with Mr James Paul, hon. secretary of the Taranaki Jockey Club, on the racecourse reserve question.
