AQUATICS.

The Union Bowing Club commenced their Maiden Double Sculls for the committee prize yesterday, which were arranged for Saturday last, but had to bo postponed on account of the wet. All the crews have had three weeks’ practice, but some of them did not take full advantage of this, and of course felt it in the race. The following are the heats :

First Heat. Daphne, N.B. Dolphin, S.B, F. H. Bwler B. Blanchard Geo. Baker W. H. Black

L. Styche (cox). Pascoo (cox). The boats kept well together until reaching the bathing place, where the Dolphin drew away and won by two lengths.

Second Heat. Daphne, N.B. Dolphin, S.B. W. Feldwick E. J. Frank G. H. S. Godwin E. H. Wagstaff Pascoe (cox). This was by far the best race of the lot. Both boats kept nock aud neck until through .the 'Stanmore Bridge, where the Dolphin drew gradually away and won by a, few feet. Third Heat. Daphne, N.B. Dolphin, S.B. F. A. Styche J. Fuller A. Flinders G. M. Moorhouse Pengelly (cox.) L. Styche (cox.) Fuller went away in grand style, and soon had a length to his credit, which he held to Cowlishaw’s, but his bow, suffering from illness, had to give way, thus leaving Styche to walk over. If this had not happened the finish would have been close.

Fourth Heat. Daphne, N.B. Dolphin, S.B. J. G. Buie P. Hyman G. M. Louiason F. Shand Styche (cox.) Pengelly (cox.) Mr S. C. Kesteven sent the boats away well together, and a grand race to the bathing shed ensued. Hyman now forged ahead and won by two lengths.
