A committee has been formed to Vet up competition matches at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Eire Brigade Association at Napier next January. It is hoped sufficient subscriptions will be raised to offer such substantial prizes as to invite colonial brigades to send up strong repre- . sentative teams. MASTERTON, November 3. At Brancepets yesterday a bushfaller named James Duncan, aged eighteen, had his leg crushed by a falling tree. He was removed to Masterton Hospital, whore he died this morning from the shock to his nervous system.

A child named Bugden was drowned in the Tokomairiro yesterday. Whilst playing on the bank she fell into the river.
It is reported that M. Bela Singer, mer.chant, has called a meeting of creditors. His liabilities are stated at 5,000.
