Rev Father Luck, the newly-appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, is a passenger for New Zealand by the steamer Wairarapa, which left hero yesterday for the Bluff.
The trial of the two men Smith and Shaw, on a charge of attempting to rob the Commercial Bank of Australia at Avenal on the 6th ult., was concluded to-day. Smith was found guilty and sentenced to throe years’ penal servitude. Shaw was discharged. SYDNEY, November 2. Sailed—This afternoon, R.M.S. City of Sydney, for San Francisco, via Auckland. The debate in the Legislative Assembly on the Colonial Treasurer’s Financial Statement has been postponed for a week
