SUPREME COURT.

IN CHAMBERS. Tuesday, October 31. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Johnston.) MOSES V NORWICH EIRE INSURANCE COMPANY. This was an application for settlement of issues. Mr Joynt for the plaintiff ; Mr Harper for the defendant. After some preliminary Hiscussion as to the effect upon pending actions of the revised rules of procedure laid down in the new Supremo Court Act, the issues in the case, which was an action to recover on a fire insurance policy, were considered and amended. The trial was fixed to take place at Christchurch at the first civil sittings after the Ist of January next.

KE THOMAS OWEN, DECEASED. Mr Button obtained an order for probate heroin to L. Morgan and W. Henderson, two of the executors named. TATE V ALIOTT AND OTHERS. Mr J. C. Martin applied for an order directing accounts to be taken. Order granted. SHAVE V BEADSHAW AND ANOTHER. Application for settlement of issue. This was an action on an agreement for the sale of land. Mr Joynt for the plaintiff, MiHarper for the defendant. The application was ordered to stand over, his Honor being of opinion that a special case should be stated. EENWICK V EGBERTS. Return to summons of October 23rd. Mr Holmes, for the plaintiff, applied for leave to amend the declaration herein. Mr Garrick, for the defendant, asked for a postponement, which was granted. a PAXTON V STEAD. Application for settlement of issues. This was an action for defamation. Mr Joynt for the plaintiff, and Mr Button for the defendant. The issues were settled, and the case fixed for trial at Christchurch during the first civil sittings after the Ist of January next. Mr Button applied for a special jury, but no order was made. IN BANKRUPTCY. EE THOMAS HILL. Mr J. B. Fisher obtained an order for the payment of costs out of the estate, and also an order for the debtor’s discharge. EE JOHN WM. ROUNTREE. Mr Swann obtained an order for the debtor’s discharge. RE WILLIAM STYCHE. The debtor applied in person for an order for his discharge. Order granted. The Court then rose.
