Mr Long, senior, one of the victims of the Pokeno tragedy, has so far recovered as to be able to walk about the house. TIMARU, October 30. Captain White, of Timaru, sailmaker, an old resident, died suddenly in the Resident Magistrates’ Court to-day. He was seized with an apoplotic fit, and died before medical aid arrived. The Cromwell Company have sent down ji cake of 201 ounces, from 300 tons. DUNEDIN, October 30. We learn from the U.S.S. Company that the Eotomahana sailed at 7.15 last night for Port Chalmers, the damage sustained being sufficient'to require repairs. Captain Webster was in charge. Captain Underwood being absent on leave. The passengers proceed on by the Rotorua, which sails direct to-day. INVERCARGILL, October 30. George Brown, farmer, at the Rosslyn Bush, was killed on Saturday near his house through a fall from a dray, caused by the horse stumbling.
