The French Minister of Justice, in applying to-day for a change of venue in the trial of the Socialist strikers, declared that he holds the threads of evidence of a vast revolutionary organisation which is now penetrating Prance. The statement has caused much excitement throughout the country. [special to press association ] Received October 27th, 11 a.m. LONDON, October 25. The two missionaries, Portunatns John and John Williams, and the wife of the former, have been tried by a Special ■ Commission at Sierra Leone for the manslaughter of a girl who was in their ser- ■ vice, and whom they flogged almost to death, rubbing pepper into the wounds, -and leaving her and her companion, who had been similarly treated, exposed to the ann until the one girl died. The men have heen sentenced to twenty years imprisonment, and the wife of the one to a shorter term, as an accessory.

Received October 27th, 3 p.m. COLOMBO, October 26.

A Court of Enquiry has been held here into the collision which took place between the P. and O. steamship Peahawur and the barque Glenroy. The finding has been that the barque was to blame, and the captain’s certificate has been suspended for six months.
