Lane, and T. Hogben. The annual Athletio Sports Meeting was announced to commence at noon this day, bat owing to delay in receiving the programmes an hour’s postponement was necessitated. The ground was in excellent condition, and the weather most favorable, Mr J. A. Hanamann, of the Feathers’ Hotel, Lincoln road, was entrusted with the publican’s booth, Mr J. Knight’s confectionery booth being erected in close proximity to it. Lnnoheon was laid in the large room, at the east end of the pavilion by Mr Hansmann. The arrangements of the committee were very satisfactory, commendable punctuality being shown in getting off the various events, the first being:— 100 Yards Flat Bace. First Heat.

A. Templar 1 F. N. Eobinson 2 Thera were four competitors. Won by half a yard. Time, 10 3 sth seo. Second Heat. W. J. Webb 1 A. H. Anderson ... T J. C. Hall ... t Dead beat for second place. Time, llseo. 120 Yards Flat Bace (handicap)—Open to boya at Christ’s College and High School. First Heat.

M. Archer, 13 yards 1 P. A. Joynt, Byards ... .... 2 Archer, who is about half the size of his opponent, won by ten yards. Time, 14seo, Second Heat. E. E. Webb, 6 yards 1 W. H. Montgomery, 3 yards ... 2 Four started. Won by about ten yards. Montgomery ran well. Time, 12 8 sth sec. Third Heat.

H. H. Lee, 4 yards 1 Q. Palmer, 3 yards , ••• 2 Throe started. A very close finish. Time, 13sec. Fourth Heat. A. H. Alabaster. 9 yards 1 P. Potts, 10 yards ... 2 Alabaster won easily. Time, 13jeo. One Mile Flat Race. F. W. Anderson 1 A. S. Baker 2 Five started. Baker sprang off with the lead,. Styohe being close up. In this order they passed the pavilion. Meanwhile Anderson was gaining on Styohe, whom he passed shortly after, and then gained rapidly on Baker, whom he passed when about thirty yards from home, and came in with about fifteen yards to spare.
