This Dat.
A greater number of sheep were to hand this morninp than has been the case for some weelEß past. The quality, except in some instances, hard'y up to late standard. The tone of the market duiin? the morning has been fairly hwd, and for speci.il quality competition keen. Heavy crossbreds sold from 17s b'd to 225, the latter price being piid for one picked pen, the rest of the line going 'rom 19s to 2!s ; medium weights 14s 9d to 16s. Merinos were again well to the fore ; the inquiry was, however, hardly so good —Us to as high as 14s 6d was obtained. Taking the market as a whole prices are about on a par with late quotations, 2£d per lb. The store pens were full of shep. Ewes and lambs, good sorts, met with r*a-Jy sale; hoggets, unshorn, were also easily quitted. Fat lambs were in fair supplj and the demand was good, 8s to 12s being the ruling prices. Pigs —A good entry ; demand fairly actire. Fat cattle—Not a large entry, demand is only middlmg; last week's prices (26s to 23s per hundred) are unohanged. The store cattle entry is made up of principally youog cattle, and the market had not opened when our report left.
