Wipe Bbatikg. George Bznit,h was charged with having violently assaulted his ■wife, Hannah Rebecca, on Oatobor 23rd. The police asked for a remand. The prisoner had only just been brought from Lincoln. His wife was lying in bed there suffering from the injuries inflicted by her husband. Jno, Cortwell deposed to having seen Mrs Smith on Tuesday. She was in bed, and appeared to be half murdered. She was quite unable to move. The police further stated that they hai a doctor's certificate that the woman was in a critical state, and would not be fit to appear for at least a week. The jgusoner mi remanded till November lit.
