On the 31st August (says the “Europesn Mail") Messrs William Denny Brothers, launched from Levan Shipyard, Dumbarton, a steel screw steamer of about 2000 tens gross measurement for the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand (Limited). On leaving fto ways the vessel was named the Hanroto by Mrs Denny, of Meodowbank, Dumbarton. The dimensions of the Hauroto are—Length between perpendiculars, 285 f t; breadth, moulded, 36ft; depth, moulded, 25ft She has been constructed of Siemens-Martin steel, under special survey of Lloyd’s, and classed in their registry 100 Al, three decked. She is bnilt on the continuous cellular bottom principle, with solid floors, and adapted for water ballast. Throughout the machinery space the structural system ai deck-plate frames and hold side-stringers has been adopted. She will have accommodation for 60 first-class passengers in poop, and 84 flaoond-class on main deck. ’• he officers and engineers will be accommodated in the midship sidet oases under bridge deck, and the firemen and crew will occupy the forecastle. Ihe vessel will be fitted by Messrs Denny and Co. with compound surface condensing engines, having Cylinders 28in and 68in diameter, and the stroke ot piston 45in. While being constructed the Hauroto has been under the inspection of Mr John Darling, superintendent engineer of the company. She is expected to leave the Clyde for Melbourne abont the Zsth instant.

The Bingarooma arrived at 10 a.m. She left Melbourne on the 17th at 4.30 p.m., and experienced light south-east winds throughout. She nails at 5 p.m. to-morrow far Dunedin.
