SYDENHAM HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The second monthly show cf tho proasut season of the above society was held last evening in the Selwyn street schoolroom. Addington. A very creditable collection of flowers ware staged, and, despite the rain, the attendance was very goad, the exhibits and awards were as fo lows : -

Collection of twelve tulips (classes A and B). A. Hep worth, 1; W. Spicer, 2 ; 11. Bine, 3. Collection of six tulips (classes A and B). A. Hepworth, 1; W. Spicer, 2. Extra prize given by Mr Hepworth for best collection of cut blooms ; one exhibit. G. Green, 1. For Exhibition Only.—Highly commended — Four calceolarias,.J. Hepworth. Tulips, six varieties, B. Line. Auriculas, thirty varieties, B. Line. Pansies, twelve varieties, J. M. I'Anson. Collection cut blooms, J. A. Watts. Dielytra spectabilis, J. Be-ton. Collection cut blooms twelve varieties, K. Nairn and Sons.

The tulips wore all good blooms, the best single one being exhibited by Mr E. Line. Mr Green’s exhibit of cut blooms contained eighteen varieties, in which the pelargoniums were very good indeed. Mr Hepworth’s calceolarias were excellent spe iimens.and the auriculas shown by Mr B. Line vrt re all good varieties, betokening great care in growth and selection; but perhaps the best stand in the exhibition was the out blooms sent by Messrs Fa- rn and Son, which comprised azaleas, rhododendrons, pelargoniums, water lilies, Fabiana, narcissi, and two varieties of clematis.
