I Consols have advanced to 101 s; New Zealand securities are unchanged at last quotation, viz.—Five per Cent. 10.40, 104>, ex div.; Five per Cent, 1889,107 ; Fonr and a Half per Cent. 1879-1904, 101j> The market rate of discount has been reduced by ito 3j. The Bank rate remains at 5 per cent. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, romains at 42s to 44s 6d. Adelaide flour is unchanged at 335. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Groat Britain is 1,880,000 quarters, or 70,000 less than last week. Australian tallow continues firm at 44s 6d for best beef and 47s for best mutton. j
Ootober 15.
Lord Northbrook, First Lord of the Admiralty, addressed a crowded meeting at Liverpool last night. In the course of his speech he stated, in referring to the state of affairs in Ireland, that a decided turn for the better had been manifested in that country, and that the Irish were now evincing a desire to support law.
