The deaths of persons not residents of boroughs occurring at the hospitals have been excluded in all cates. The total births in the above boroughs (excluding New Ply. mouth vital statistics, of which the town statistics are now published for the first time) amount to 438, against 496 in August, it decrease of £3. The deaths amounted to 163 in September, a decrease of one on the number for August. 70.63 of the deaths were of children under 5 years of age, being 38 65 per cant, of the whole number; 40 of these were of children under 1 year of age.
