A meeting of Homan Catholics of this place was hold last evening in St. Patrick’s Hall, when the objects of the Colonial Laud Settlement and Endowment Aisooiation ware fully explained, and resolutions unanimously passed pledging the meeting to use every endeavor to carry out tho intentions of the association. WELLINGTON, October 14. Government ere making arrangements to fillj the effleo of General Inspector of Goldfields, for which a sum was voted last session. The gentleman who has been offered the position is a thorough practical man.

One hundred and fifty persons were present, including Messrs Montgomery, Maoandrew, Barron, Steward, Bracken, Fish, Duncan, ond Stout.
