Dbsbhtion of Families. —Peter McDonald, on warrant from Invercargill, was charged with having left his female child, Katherine Ann, without proper provision for her maintenance. His brother, who has charge of the child, having agreed, the ease was adjourned till October 9th.—John Wilson was charged with having deserted his three children. The warrant o£ arrest not having come to hand from Timarn, a remand was granted till October 9th.
Valueless Chequh— The same prisoner, John Wilson, was further charged with tendering a valueless chi quo to the night watchman at the Central Hotel, thereby obtain! g a benefit. This esse was also remanded till October 9th. Civil. Oases. —Collier v Stearns. Thi» was en action to recover £lO on an lOU. The case had born heard on October 4th, and adjourned for the production of further evidence. Mr McOonnel, counsel for plaintiff, now said that he found the evidence ha had proposed to prodaca was immaterial. Mr Stringer, far defendant, having addressed the Bench, judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount cUimed, with costs and sol oiior’s fee, hia Worship saying that he had no reason to doubt the truth of plaintiff’s statement. M. Ell v Q-reengoe, claim £47 16s lid j judgment was for plaintiff with, costs.
