THE NAPIER A. AND P. SHOW.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION telegram.] NAPIBB, October 5. The Agricultural and Pastoral Society’« Show, held yesterday and to day, was fairly successful. The wind was blowing a hurri-
cane, and the clouds of dust were very unpleasant. In merinos the chief honors were carried eff by Messrs Douglas, MoLe.tn, Boyec, Anderson, and D. Mollan. The locally bred sheep in nearly every case beat the imported exhibits, which were numerous. In ongwools theramprises weredivided between Mr A. MoHardy p.nd Mr W. Dolbel, but Mr A. Tonner carried off every ewe prize, chiefly with sheep from Mr P. Euisel’s Olupai flock, Canterbury. In cattle the honor takers were the Rev. 8. Williams, Mr A. McHardy, and Mr J. D. Ormond. The sheep and cattle were of remarkably high quality. Some good horses—thoroughbreds and draught— i were also exhibited. Of the implements, &0., , there was however a very indifferent show, save in locally made buggies and carriages. Poultry and dogs wore poorly represented. ' One exhibit which received much attention ( comprised samples of farinaceous food, white ] and colored starch, British gum, glucose syrup, and grape sugar, all made from potatoes unfit for human food and bad grain, by Mr Liddell, of Biverslca station.
