Co.), for Lyttelton, with 1135 eases kerosene, during the four weaka ending August 19th The barque Motley was loading for Dunedin and Lyttelton. About 500 persons participated in the pleasure trip of the s.s. Wairarapa at Port Chalmers on Saturday, on the occasion of the annual fete of the headquarters staff of the Union steamship Company. Mr Keith Bamsay, speaking to a toast, said the company owned 17,000 of tonnage at present, and there was about IO.OGO jet to be added in the shape of steamers in coarse of construction. Jndge Williams, proposing a toast, eoferied to the rapid Btrides of progress made by the company, and had no doubt ere long the red funnel steamers would be found in the trade between Great Britain and New Zealand.
