Ie 1831, 427 steamers and 155 sailing vessels were classed by Lloyd's Association, built as follows:—ss3 built in the United Kingdom, 15 in thu Colonics, 1 in the United States, 4in Germany, 1 in Vuatria, 3 in Nor wry, 2 in Holland, 3 in Sweden. During lost year 737 vessels of 748,793 tons Vrera built in the United Kingdom, divided as follows 475 steamers and 312 sailing vessels. Thirty-four of the steamers were built of steel aad 4U ol iron. Throe of the sailing vessels wore built of rfccel and 50 of iron. Against this there were 1031 vessels lost or broken np, Ac., during the year, 158 of which were steamers, 573 sailing vessels. One of the steamers was built of steel, 139 of iron, while 52 of the sailing vessels were also of iron. THE PLEIADES. This ship left London July Ist, and passed Hand's End on July 10th. A tremendous sea brake on board the ship, and played havoc with the starboard lifeboat, the cabin doers and acme of the other lighter fittings on deck. The saloon was flooded ns were alio the deck houses. The Leu win meridan was crossed on September 19th, and thit of Tasmania September 24tn, and the Snares sighted September 28th. Beat up the coast and sighted the Peninsula on r nnday morning, and anchored at the Heads same night.

The Eoton-ihana arrived at the Blnff at 7 a.m. to-day. aha left Melpeunse on the 26th, at 3.30 p.m., and arrived at Hobart at 4 a m. of the 28th, soiling at 2 pm. She had strong westerly winds and heavy seas during her passage. Salmon passengers—For Bluff: Mrs Tellis and thr ?e children, Messrs McCracken, MoOeig, Curtis and Tilford. For Dunedin: Messrs Marlow, Uayman, McCarter, Lindsay, Besle, King and Bell, Mr and Mrs Thornton, Mr and i-'-ra Bobinson and family. For Lyttelton : Messrs Msude, Grayson and Malcolm, Mrs Blake, Misses Dixon, Ware and Smith, Mr and Mrs Johnson. For Wellington : Miss Hill, Messrs Caw, Willard, Owen, Boas and Bavan, For Napier: Messrs Gilbert and Burrows. For Auckland: Misses Mathioson and Potter, Messrs Blackwell (3), Wilkinson, and Mr and Mrs Watkins.
