During Saturday afternoon and the whole of yesterday at Port the weather was what may ko described as eccentric. At intervals on Saturday, frozen snowflakes as large as sixpenny pieces fell, while the next minute, so to speak, the son shone forth, and the day assumed «» the pleasantness of the bright reign of springtime. Yesterday the wind blew hard from the south-west with bracing freshness, topping the harbor with ridges of white foam, and earrjing heavy showers of spray completely over the tops of the breakwaters. There were ■it large iron ships lying alongside the Gladstone pier, enjoying as much immunity from the risks of a gala as they would had they been in a dry dock, and such shelter from the weather as no other harbor in the colony possesses.
