By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. [reuter’s telegrams.] Received September 23rd, 1 p.m. ALEXANDRIA, September 21. The British ironclads have commenced te shell Fort Ghemeleh at Damietta. Later. Major-General Sir Evelyn Wood has been ordered to proceed with his regiments to Damietta, to co-operate with the fleet in the assault on that place. Latest reports to hand state that Abdellad has left Damietta for Cairo, and that the rebel garrison has now yielded. [“Argus” Special, per United Press Association.] Received September 23rd, 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 21, 11.18 p.m. Three regiments of British troops have been sent to attack Damietta. The robel garrison at Rogete (Rosette P) have surrendered. The hill tribes have afforded protection to the Christians at Scutari, Received September 23rd, 12 5 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 22, 6 a.m. The Atchenese have defeated the rebels with great loss. The commission for the trial of Arabi and his officers will consist of four European members, representing countries which were not engaged in the war. Three Egyptian officers, one English officer, and a large number of the troops at Cairo, have been invalided from the effects of the climate. troops, forming the garrison, have deserted.
The English forces will remain in Egypt until the European Powers have determined their attitude in regard to the future government of the country.
