Sir Garnet Wolseley, with a strong force of British troops, is now advancing on both sides of the Freshwater Canal, while the cavalry and horse artillery have been detached to attempt a flank movement, with a view to destroying the railway in Arabi's rear, and so cutting off his retreat when attacked in front by the main body.
