The programme of the New Zealand Rifle Association has been issued. The first three matches are open to all comers, and the remaining four are confined to volunteers only. The former count for either rifle or carbine belts. Of the latter, two count for the car. bine championship, and two for the rill 3 championship. The first match is at 300 and 500 yards. There are forty-nine prizes, amounting to £ll9, and a Nelson Citizens' Cup. The second and third matches are at 200 yards each, thirty-six prizes for each match, the total of £IOO each. The next match for the rids belt is at 200, 500. and 600 yards 37 prizes, £l2O, The match for the Carbine Belt is at 200, 300, and 500 yards ; 36 prizes, £IOO. The fifth is for the Rifle Belt, at 500 and 600 yards t 36 prizas, £IOO. The fifth match for the Carbine Belt

is at 800 and 560 yards j 36 prizes, £IOO 10j. The twenty highest aggregate scores for tbc rifles and the same for the carbines then fire & second stage match at 600 and 500 yards respectively. Ties for places in the twentie s to fire shot for shot, and the highest aggrega! o coorers in all matches being champions. Tits for the championship are to be decided ty shot for shot. The five grand aggregate

prizes in each case vary from £SO to £5. The civilian match take* plsce at 200 and 500 yards. The rifle and carbine trophy matches are the same ee for the previous year. The carbine and rifla team matches are the same as last year, but the prizes are increased to £4O, £2O, £lO, and £5 ip each case. The Otago Bifle Association Ladies’ Challenge Shield will also be fired for, but is restricted to certain Otago Corps. The firing will commence on Friday, 3rd November, and will be completed by Wednesday, the Bth. The Government have authorised the issue of free railway passes to volunteers and members of the association under certain conditions. Entries are to be made on or before Saturday, the 28th October.
