LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

This Council mot on Monday night. Presout the Mayor, and Crs. Ohalmors, Maodonald, Stinson, Reed, Smith, Webb, Grubb, Weyburne. The reoeipts amounted to £346 12s 103. An application from Q. W. Johnson for a slaughtering license for rural Be otion 50 was not entertained, there being a license already in existence for the place in Oook Bros, favor. J. B. Milsom, it was agreed, should be informed that he must discontinue his presont method or disposing of sewage matter. Acoounta for £155 17s 10.1 were papeed for payment In aocord with a suggestion in the engineer's report, it was decided to have one of the reservoirs at the Heathcote VaUey shortly oleaned out. Agreed that the extension of water pipes be made to the Eorew Pile Jetty, as recommended by the foreman of works, amounting to 392't. of 2in. pipe. The water committee were asked to report at the next meeting on the best method of getting a water supply to the re siients on the higher level above Dampier's B-jy. Cr. Beed was acoorded a hearty vote of thanks for acting as ohairman during the Mayor's enforced absence at Wellington. Or. Smith, in a few well chosen remarks, took his leave of the Oounoil, and similar remarks ware made by Or. Grubb, these gentlemen having declined the honor of standing for reelection. A vote oi thavks, at the instance of th 9 Mayor, was passed to them, and to Or. Weyburne. A notice of motion was tabled by Or Cbalmars dealing with the yeccostruo; tion of standing committees.
