1 he Charles G. Bice, barque, now at Tune din, and which has part New fork cargo for this port, is a vessel of 715 tons, and was bmlt in 1880 at Portland, Maine. She was 107 days on the passage, and is in command of Captain Smart. Now 18ft 6in was the least depth at dead low water.” The barquentine Sirocco, which left Newcastle for Dunedin with a cargo of coal now ninety-six days ago and has never since been heard of, was commanded by Captain G. P. Stevens, very well known in the Now Zealand trade. He oommandedjthe brigantine Prosperity, running between Melbourne and Hokitika when the West Coast goldfislds were in the height cf their prosperity, and subsequently took charge of the brigantine Eliza Firth, and other vessels. Captain Stevens left a wife end eight children in Melbourne, who are not in good circumstances, and it is proposed to raise subscriptions to assist them in their distress. The barque Helen White, bound to Adelaide, left Newcastle at the same time as the Sirocco, and she also has gone amiesing, SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. New Plymouth, September 6.
