[BY OABLK.J [reuter's TULBGSAUS.] SYDNEY, Septembers. The second day’s rasing of the Australian Jockey Club’s spring meeting took place today. The weather was fine and the attend* anoe of visitors very large. His Excellency Lord Loftns and suite, were again present during the day, Eprino Maiden Stakes, 150 govs; one mile and a half. Heola I Saianora ... _ 2 Eva 3 Great Metropolitan Stakes with a sweep of 20 sots ; second horse 100 sots, third horse 50 sots ; two miles. Mr C. T. Roberts' ch g Masquerade, aged, by The Drummer—Romping Girl, 6st ... 1 Hon. J. Rales’ b g Comet, aged, by The Drummer—Atlanta, 6 t 101 b 1 2 Mr P. J. Cox’s b g Britisher, 4 yrs, by John Bull, 6 >t 101 b 3 The following nineteen horses started: Lord Burghley, Barber, Proctor, Gres wick, Suwarrow, Sting, Sudan, Gipsy Cooper, Stratbearn, Lord Orville, Comet, Stella, Britisher, Prima Donna, Kingiworth, Harebell, Westbury, Masquerade, and Brunnette. Sting was a strong favorite at the start. The running was made by Harebell and Bronnette, who led the field nntil the home turn was reached, when Comet, Sting, Britisher, Proctor, and Kingiworth appeared most prominent. Coming down the straight Comet led, fallowed by Britisher; Masquerade was close behind on the ontside, and, coming ~~ up rapidly, ultimately passing Comet anti Britisher, and finishing rather easily a length and a half in front, with Comet second, and Britisher a good third ; Bangs worth fourth. Lord Orville fifth, and Sting sixth. Time, 3min, 33seo.
