COURSING.
A very pleasant coursing meeting took plaoo at Courtenay and surrounding district this week. A start was made on Tuesday, but the final did not oome off until Thursday, as the Judge (Mr F. Bull) was unable to attend on the 30th. Entries were oonfined to residents in the Courtenay Road Board district, and the stake in eaoh event just heavy enough to interest the owners of dogs engaged . The hares were fairly numerous and gave plenty of sport. The running took plaoo on the properties of Messrs Patterson, M'Olelland, W. and H., and other gentlemen. Mr Bull, as judge, gave great satisfaction, and certainly deserves the greatest praise for the care he displayed in giving his decisions. The Sapling Btake§ was won by a very smart handsome puppy belonging to Mr A. M'Nae. The All-aged Stake by a dog called Teaser and t- • Consolation by old Spring, who has still got a considerable turn of speed. His stock are turning out very well also. There is plenty of material in the Courtenay dis- | triot to form a good club, so probably next | season will see another added to the already goodly list of Canterbury Clubi.
