NORTHERN AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the members of the Council of this association was held on Wednesday afternoon in the Boad Board Office, Bangiora, There were twenty-six present. Mr John McParlane, president, in the chair, thanked the society for having re-elected him daring his absence in the North Island, as president of the association. Letters were read from Messrs W. P. Pearson, Q. B. Btarkey, H. Molllwraith, and Isaac Wilson, accepting the position of vice presidents. Letters were read offering special prizes. Prom L Ridley, offering services of his horse, B!sokie> .or the best yearling colt or filly. Piom Mr A. Tates, offering services of Campzie 111. in a similar way. Prom Mr P. O. Thre’keld, offering £5, to be given in the cattle classes same as last year, viz, £3 for best bull of any age, and £3 as a second prlzs, owners of stud herds not to compete. From New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Company, offering £3 2 1 as a prize for the best four bales of phormium fibre, price of same to bo stated by exhibitor. Prom Hon. H, B. Qresson, offering £1 Is for the beet ten hoggetts, bona fide the property of a farmer; £1 Is for the best pen of five ewes, also the property of a farmer; and £2 2s for the best Alderney cow, of any ago, in milk or in calf. Prom O. Dampier Orossley, offering services of Prince Charming for the best pony mare under thirteen hands two inches j also, £2 for the best yearling oolt or filly by Prince Charming. Prom Mr H. J. Hall, offering £5, to be given in special prizes, as the society might decide. Prom Mr M. McFarlane, £2 2s for the best milch cow; breeders not to compete. From Mr J. Torrens, offering £2 2s as a first, and £1 Is as a second prize for the best colt or filly on the ground. Prom Mr J. Stevenson, offering £2 2a for the best mare on the ground, with two of her progeny. Prom Mr O. Skevington, offering £1 for a three furrow plough. It was resolved that Mr H J. Hall’s prizes be given, £2 10 1 for the beat pen of five crossbred hoggetts, between longwoolled ram and merino ewe and merino ram and longwoolled ewe, and £2 10s for the best milch cow and three of her progeny, not exceeding two years old. Mr W. A. Burt offered £1 for the best 31b of fresh butter. Mr J. Pulton offered £1 10s as a prize for buggy driver who could drive along a pegged track, and who knocked out the fewest pegs. Mr Buss offered an amount of £6 as a special prize. The president offered £lO to be given—£s for the best entire on the ground belonging to the district, £2 10a for the belt roadster, and £1 10s for the best Leicester ram and £1 for tho best ewe. A sum of £2 from the amount given by Mr Buss was voted as a special prizs for the best thoroughbred entire travelling the district. Mr Bass stated that he would apportion £3 in tho class. Mr J, Boberts offered £2 2s for the best sow and litter ef pigs, not less than six in number, under the age of eight weeks. Mr Nicholls offered £2 10s for the best merino ram. The secretary stated that in value the prizes had been increased £45 upon those offered last year, exclusive of the private prizes. A letter was read from the Bangiora brass band, offering to perform at the show fo? £lO, and if the offer was now accepted, th. members would obtain a uniform. The offer was, alter consideration, agreed to. The date of the annual horse parade was altered, and the council decided to hold it on Tuesday, October 3rd. Tho meeting then adjourned.
