CHRISTCHURCH BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION.

The ministera of the various religious denominations met the oommitteo of the above jjgaociation at tho Oity Council ohambers at ■■(■*>- yesterday. Present —The Primate, wB Dean of Ohriitchuroh, Father Qinaty, Eevs. H. Glssson, W. Harper, H. J. O. Gilbert, E. A. Lircgard, H. O. M. Watson, H. Williams, I. Zachariah, O. Fraser, Best, J. Aldred, Messrs H W. Paoker, J. P. Jameson, W. B. Mitchsll, Q. Booth, O. Kiver, O. P. Hulbert, W. M. Haskell, W. Pratt, and O. T. Stk. Mr C. T. lok was voted to the chair. The Bav. H. C. M. Watson thought it hardly desirable to take any action till the Government proposals were known. A long discussion endued, and it was afterwards resolved, on the motion of the Dean of Christchuroh, si-CJKded by the Rsv. Father Ginaty—" That the ministers of the various denominations in Christohurch and its neighborhood agree to set aside a Sunday, the date of which shall hereafter be decided on, as a charity Sunday in aid of the funds of the the Ohristohuroh Benevolent Association." The Bsv. O. Fraser moved, Mr J. P. Jameson ssoonded, and it was resolved—- " That a committee be appointed to consider the arrangements on which a oharity Sunday special collection can be established in OhristChurch ; such committee to report to a general meeting to be subacquantly held, and that the committee consist of the Bev. Father Ginaty, Bevs. 0. Fraser, H. Williams, Morley, E. A. Lingard, H. O. M. Watson, and Messrs Mitchell, Parker, Ick, Booth, and Maskell; such committee to meet at ten o'clock on Monday next at the offices of the Association." This was all the business.
