ENGLISH FOREIGN. [betjteb's telegrams.] LONDON, August 18. Both Houses of Parliament adjonrned to-day till October, when an extraordinary autumn session -will bo held for the purpose of dealing with Mr Gladstone's proposed new rules of procedure. News is to hand from Ireland that a party of Land Leaguers made an attack upon a house at Mnllighadruma to-day, and shot the family, numbering four persons.

The cricket match between the Australians and the United Eleven of the south of England was resumed at Portsmouth to-day. The weather was again very fine, anl a very large number of spectators visited the ground during the match, great interest being taken in it. The Australians, with one wicket down, continued their first innings, which closed for a total of 149. The highest scorers were Blackham, c, 84; Bannerman, lbw, 26; and Horau, bowled, 19. The bowling of tho Englishmen was very destructive, and their fielding excellent. The Home team then commenced their second innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had scored 127 for a loss of six wickets.
