FIRE AT TIMARU.
[FBBSS ASSOCIATION TSLBGBAH.J TIMABU, August 20.
A fire broke out at three o'olook this morning in Ooxhead's photographer's shop, one of a blook in George street. It was first noticed by a loud explosion, and the roof of the building and windows being blown out. The flames spread rapidly to an empty shop on one side, and to Wood and Smith's drapery and B. Turnbull's grocery shops on the other. The buildings being of wood, and very old, all but Turnbull's were destroyed, and his goods were seriously damaged by the fire and water. This is the fourth time this block has been on fire within six or eight months, and in every case under suspicions eircumstanoes. The following are insurances : —B. Turnbull, on stook, £5130 in the Standard ; Wood and Smith, on stock, £BOO in National; Ooxhead, on stock, £l6O in the Standard. The whole of the buildings is the blook belong to Messrs Quinn Bros., and were insured for £ISOO in the London, Liverpool and Globe, but half of them escaped. Turnbull's lots will be considerably above the insuranoe.
