In the House of Assembly to-day Mr Driver gave notice to move, on going into committee of supply, a affirming the necessity for immediate financial reparation between the two islands, and_ that a Boyal Commission should be appointed to determine the terms of such separation, and that a Bill be introduced next session to carry out the report. Mr Alfred Thompson, a solicitor of Christ church, who recently absconded, passed through Wellington on the mail steamer. DUNEDIN, August 18, Amongst the insolvencies this week is that of James Carmichael, of Lovell’s Plat, farmer, whose debts are £BOSO, and assets £1541. INYBBOABQILL, August 18. Mr A. Dolamore, sub-editor of the " Southland Times,” has become proprietor of the “Mataura Ensign.”
