[pbb pbess association.] AUCKLAND, August 15. Mr J. O. Firth has started a large apiary at Matamata, and expects to have 300 hives at work by September. The partnership of Messrs Fraser and Xinnio, ironfounders, has been dissolved. Mr Griffen, the American Consul, and Mr Tinnie leave by the Australia this afternoon. . Mr J. M. Clarke, Mayor, has promised £SOO towards the erection of a suitable hall for the purposes of art. John Smith, an old settlor, and owner of Maid of Honor, Tim Whi filar, and other racehorses, died to-day. WELLINGTON, August 15. The steamer Tui, which broke down on her passage from Kaikoura to Lyttelton on Thursday last, arrived here safely at 7.30 this morning under canvas. DUNEDIN, August 15. At the City Court, to-day, Andrew Johnston, of Anderson’s Bay, was fined £2O, or twenty-eight days’ imprisonment, for sly grog selling. Eobeit Park and William Godfrey Neill, sureties in MoKollar’s case, had their recognisances estreated to the extent of £25 each. Charles Boscoe, who absconded from Burnham Industrial School in December lest, hrbeen recommitted.
