THE WAR IN EGYPT.
BY OABLB. fBEUTBB'S TBLEGBAMB.] CONSTANTINOPLE, August 12. Lord Dufferin, British Ambassador, has submitted to the Conference ft draft of the military convention by the British GoTernment and the Forte for the settlement of the Egyptian difficulty. By the terms of the convention, the British Government waives the demand previously made that Turkish troops which may be despatched to Egypt shall be- subject to British commanders, but insists on concerted action between the two f rees.
The Conference has adopted the proI posal of the Italian Ambassador that European powers shonld establish a collective naval protection over the Suez Canal, but agrees that England shall be free to take any military action that may be deemed necessary in the Canal. ALEXANDRIA, August 13. The Coldstream and Grenadier Guards arrived here to-day. They are, however, inactive, pending the arrival of Sir Garnet Wolsley, who is expected to reach here on Tuesday next. [" AGE " SPECIAL.] LONDON, August 11, 4.25 p.m. The Duke of Connaught is inspecting the fortifications and places of interest. Prince Teek has arrived at Alexandria. The postmaster at Philadelphia has forwarded 800 dollars to Arabi.
