NOMINATED IMMIGRATION.
[Br Tklbsbaph.3
fraoM THE “PRESS."] WELLINGTON, Anguit 11. The Government having recently decided to resume nominated immigration, indications are apparent of the interest taken in the matter. Only £6, including £1 for outfit, is charged under this system for bringing ablebodied men over from Great Britain, while for families and for single women nothing whatever is charged beyond the £1 for bedding and ship’s kit. Up to this morning over 140 nominations had been made for this district alone, thirty-two of which number were made before noon, twenty being telegraphed from the country. Auckland has sent in eighty-six nominations, Invercargill fortyseven, Marlborough fifteen, Nelson and Hokitika six a piece. No official information has yet been received from Christchurch or Dunedin, but they are expected to send in about 400 more, es that in a very short time there will be more than enough nominations with which to commence operations.
