Inspector Thomson appeared to prosecute on behalf of the Crown. Tho case was adjourned to enable the accused to secure counsel from Auckland. Several mines at Te Aroha are attracting attention in the market, gold-bearing stone having been found. WELLINGTON, August 11. The telegraph authorities are advised that communication with Suez is interrupted. TIMABU, August 11. J. M. Shepherd, the levanter, was brought up at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, and committed for trial on six charges of forgery. The Court was crowded, and great interest taken in the prosecution. DUNEDIN, August 11. Dating the Parliamentary session, the Union steamers leaving Port Chalmers on Monday for the North will await at Lyttelton the arrival of Tuesday’s express train. Arrived—Star of Brin, Captain Coulter, 100 days from London.
