Bufbbmb Coubt.—The only civil case on rcori this session, Argyle v Corbett, the commencement of which waa given in our yesterday's issue, resulted in a verdict; substantially for the plaintiff. Stb&nge Neglsct.— At three o'clock yeiterday afternoon, two women were arrested and taken to the lock-up for being drunk. At half-past ten this morning, when they were going to the Oaurt, Sergeant Mason, to his horror, was informed by one of the prisoners, quite a young girl, that she had lafd her infant locked up alone in a house in Hereford street. A constable was at ones despatched with the woman, and returned with mother aid ch : ld shortly afterwards. Tho child, a pretty, well clad little thing, nged about six months, seemed cone the wor?e for its twenty hours' solitary confinement.
1 O.O.F.,M.U.—TheLoyrlCity of Norwiob Ledge held their usual meeting on Tuesday evening at Lytieltou ; P.G-. J. Owen, N.G. presiding. The corsmitfee appointed to draw up a new agreement for doctors fca sign stated that the dectors vreve quits w11? ;, 3g to take members's wives, and families up to the age of sixteen, single members, mothers and fathers dependent upon them, at the rate of £1 per itnr.uii per nember. Tho Lodge decided unanimously to aecept it, and it wei also resolved that it be in force from the first of this month. Two persons were initiated, making the total membership 220, and two were proposed. The N.G. adjourned the Lodge till a quarter to ten to receive the officers and members of Juvenile Lodge, who amused the Lodge \ery pleasantly for about two houra with songs, recitations, and a farce entitled " Uncle Jeff." After a hearty vote of thanks passed to the visiting brethren, the Lodge was closed by the N.G. Beoeipts of tho evening £sl 19i. Theatbh Boyal.—"The World" still continues to draw good houses. Last night it wss repeated very successfully. As this is the last week of is produo'im these who have not seen it vrill do well to take the opportunity. It will be played again tonipht.
UAO.D.. Kaiapoi.—The diepemation from the Cr-and L'dge at Melbourne for 'ha lodge of Druids about to be opened at Kaiapoi was reoeived by the s.s. Botorna this morning. Concert.—A miscellaneous concert will take place to-morrow evening in St. Saviour's sohoolroom, Sydenham. The programme, which contains some twenty items, isa very choice and well-selected one, and, judging from the success of last night'f rehearsal,, should give every satisfaction. The proceeds will bo devoted to the liquidation of some recent expanses incurred in the improvement of the church grounds.
