The market for colonial breadstuffs is quiet, and Australian tallow continues firm at last quotations. The accounts now coming to hand of the Kentish hop crop are more favorable, but reports from other districts show that the crop will bo very short, and extremely indifferent in quality. Galvanised iron, 26 gnage, remains at £l7 15s; beat Sydney copra has advanced 15s to £l7 per ton. The Australian cricketers commenced a match to-day at Liverpool against the Liverpool Club. The wicket was heavy, owing to the recent rain. The Australians went in first, and their innings closed for a total of 240. The highest scores were—Giffen, caught, 81, and Palmer, not out for 33. The attendance at the match was vary largo. August 1. The cricket match between the Australian team and the Liverpool Club, which was to have been resumed to-day, has been postponed in consequence of heavy rain.
