OHRISTCHURCH HUNT CLUB.

On Saturday a most enjoyable afternoon was spent with the harriers belonging to this club. Notwithstanding the vary threatening weather and occasional showers a large field turned up at Mr Wansey’s, on the New Brighton road, where the meet took place. At half-past two Mr Starkey, the master, threw the hounds off in a plantation, near which a hare was seen only a short time previously. They were no sooner in than they gave tongue, and in a few moments were seen streaming away across the Looksloy estate, over the Sandhills, and (through Mr Palmer’s farm to Horseshoe Lake, Here the hares were very numerous, and after several short runs, during which a few spills occurred, the hounds were brought back to the New Brighton road, where they soon found, and travelled quickly across Mr Mcßraokney’s farm, Broom Farm, back through the Locksley estate, and over to the Horseshoe Lake again, where the pack was whipped off and taken home, after one of the best afternoon’s sport cf the season. The only serious mishap during the run occurred through Mr Starkey’s horse being bogged in Horseshoe Lake j but with tho aid of several willing hands, tho horse was extricated from his unpleasant position, covered with mud, but fortunately uninjured. Amongst the field were the Misses Delamain (2) and Olissold, and Messrs Brown, Olissold, Esau, and Delamain, of Timaru ; also Messrs Egan, Cuff, Lewin, Lance, Palmer, Miles, Aynsley, Thompson, Puhrmann, Lyford, Bell, MoAlpiae, and about sixty others.
