Bines our last report, the wheat market has firmed somewhat under the influence of a sharp advance in Europe and the possibility of present complications in Egypt having an effect on values through the Indian supplies being cut off for n time, it is, however, more than probable that the weather has more to do with the present advance than politics. Locally no sales of moment can be noted, holders feeling disposed to wait a little. Some parcels of second quality hare, however, changed hands at from 4s 2d to 4s 6d. Flour is quiet at £ll to £ll 10s, the demand being a strictly consumptive one. Oats are still very quiet, and business difficult to carry through at lata rates. For large lines more than 3n would be difficult to obtain. Good samples of malting barley are in demand at up to 4s 63, and fair at 4a, but ordinary and low quality is very difficult to place Beaus are in fair request at about 4a. Potatoes have had a fair amount of business, chiefly second hand, and at rates withheld. For any farmers’ lots offering 35a to 40a is asked. Good butter continues in demand at up to la 2d, and cheese at Hi. Hams and bacon meet a fair trade demand Bt 7|d bare, and 8d in cloth.
